Government now to create 137 new districts

Uganda government cabinet has today tabled before Uganda Parliament a motion that seeks to create more 25 new districts. If these districts are approved Uganda would have 137 new districts.
The sources in the Uganda government cabinet told us that the districts to be created include Kagadi, Kakumiro, Omoro, Namisindwa, Pakwach, Butebo, Rukiga, Rubanda, Kyadondo, Nabilatuk, Bugweri, Kasanda, Bunyangabu, Kwania, and Kapelebyong and Kyotera, Obongi, Kazo, Rwampara, Kitagwenda, Kikuube, Madi-Okollo and Kihiihi.
The sources say that these districts their creation will be effective on July 1, 2012 if Parliament approves the motion as tabled by Local Government Minister Adolf Mwesige.

The minister says that government also plans to create two new districts to be curved out of the current Kasese district after consultations with the district leadership and interest groups on the name, and boundaries.
